On the 18th, Guangdong held the Provincial High Quality Development Conference in Shenzhen. During his speech, Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD Co., Ltd., stated that the current transformation of the automotive industry has entered a deep water zone, with electrification continuing on the fast lane and intelligent transformation starting to shift gears and accelerate.
Wang Chuanfu stated that China's production and sales of new energy vehicles have ranked first in the world for 9 consecutive years, accounting for over 60% of the world's total, forming a competitive and complete industrial chain. Guangdong is the largest province in terms of automobile production and consumption in China. In recent years, the export trade of new energy vehicles has shown a high-speed growth trend, playing a major role in production, consumption, and export.
"The development of new energy vehicles will only run faster and faster, without giving us the opportunity to stop, slow down, or take a breath." Wang Chuanfu said that the electrification of Chinese cars will further deepen, and at the same time, Chinese brands' market share in the mainland will continue to increase, from 38% in 2020 to 56% last year, forming a high recognition and brand advantage in the field of new energy vehicles. Electrification and intelligence reshape the luxury car market pattern, creating new advantages and opportunities for the high-end market of Chinese domestic trendy brands.
In addition, with the acceleration of exports, new energy vehicles, along with lithium batteries and photovoltaics, form the "new three types", adding new brilliance to Guangdong's manufacturing overseas. With the Chinese brand "going global", BYD has also entered the field of roll on/roll off ship business. Wang Chuanfu said that the first roll on/roll off ship "Pioneer 1" had achieved its maiden voyage in January this year; In the next two years, 7 roll on/roll off ships will be put into operation one after another, alleviating the insufficient export capacity and promoting Guangdong's new energy vehicles to enter more countries and regions around the world.
