BYD is reportedly considering building a new electric vehicle factory in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. According to Caixin, BYD has sent a delegation to Jalisco, Mexico to consider establishing an electric vehicle factory locally. Roberto Arechederra, Secretary of Economic Development for the state of Jalisco, Mexico, recently revealed that BYD executives met with state officials last week, as well as Chinese suppliers in Jalisco, such as Haitian International, which produces and manufactures automotive parts machines. According to insiders, the cost of building BYD's factory in Mexico may be around $600 million, which is similar to the cost of BYD's Brazilian electric vehicle factory. BYD stated in a statement that the company has recently launched the Dolphin Mini model in Mexico, which includes "visiting multiple states to explore business opportunities with the aim of promoting innovation and technology.".
