2024 Guangdong Province Science Popularization Ability Enhancement Training Event for the New Era

From April 10 to 11, the 2024 science popularization ability promotion training activity of Guangdong Province in the new era with the theme of "strengthening the wings of science popularization and building the foundation of innovation" was launched in the Chinese Academy of Sciences Guangzhou Institute of Biomedicine and Health. The activities include keynote speeches, experience sharing, on-site visits, and speech exchanges.

During the activity, Wu Xiangping, an academician of the CAS Member and a researcher of the National Astronomical Observatory, made a popular science report with the theme of "Understanding the Universe"; Chen Yong, an academician of the CAE Member, gave a report entitled "Reflections on Science Popularization"; Liu Fengsong, Secretary of the Party Committee of China Science Daily, gave a report titled "Promoting the Spirit of Scientists - the Historical Mission of Science and Technology Media in the New Era". Attendees expressed that this training provides more ideas for future science popularization work.

After the meeting, participants visited the Park of Chinese Academy of Sciences Guangzhou Institute of Biomedicine and Health, Analysis and Testing Center, Biomedical Data and Hypercomputing Center and Experimental Animal Center.

The event was jointly guided by the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province and the Guangdong Association for Science and Technology, hosted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences Guangzhou Branch, South China Normal University, and the South China Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, undertaken by the Guangzhou Institute of Health, and co organized by the Guangdong Huangpu Materials Research Institute in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and the Guangzhou Huangpu Science and Technology Association.

The relevant leaders of Guangzhou Branch and Guangzhou Health Hospital, as well as representatives from science and technology bureaus, science associations, and science popularization bases in cities and counties (cities, districts) throughout the province, participated in the event.
