On June 1st,the California Institute of Technology announced that a satellite launched in January had directed the energy of microwave beams towards targets in space,and even sent a portion of the energy to Earth's probes.Ali Hajimiri,the co director of the project and an electrical engineer at the California Institute of Technology,stated,"This experiment is a concept validation that demonstrates what the entire system can do."

  This task aims to further develop lightweight,inexpensive,and flexible components.A microwave transmitter is an array of 32 planar antennas arranged on a surface slightly larger than a dinner plate.By changing the timing of signals sent to different antennas,researchers can control the beam of the array.They aimed it at a pair of microwave receivers,then randomly switched the beam of light from one receiver to another,and lit the LEDs on each receiver.
  As a clean and renewable energy technology,space-based solar energy utilization technology is considered a reliable way to achieve zero carbon emissions.
