Artificial intelligence successfully generates raw proteins from zero for the first time

In January,American institutions such as Salesforce Research and ProlucentBio published a research result in Nature Biotechnology,which created an artificial intelligence(AI)system capable of generating artificial enzymes from scratch.In laboratory testing,although artificially generated amino acid sequences differ significantly from any known natural protein,some of these enzymes are as effective as those found in nature.

This experiment shows that although natural language processing is developed for reading and writing language texts,at least some basic principles of biology can be learned.Salesforce Research has developed an artificial intelligence program called ProGen,which uses next-generation markers to predict the assembly of amino acid sequences into synthetic proteins.
Scientists say that this new technology may be more powerful than the Nobel Prize winning"protein design technology-directed evolution",as it will accelerate the development of new proteins and inject vitality into the 50 year old field of protein engineering.These new proteins can be used in almost any field from disease treatment to plastic degradation.
